Background information

HEUNI has agreed to participate in the preparations of two workshops at the XII UN Crime Congress in 2010. The workshops deal with International criminal justice education and UN and other best practices in the treatment of prisoners in the criminal justice system. A preparatory meeting for the workshop dealing with prison issues will be organised in Helsinki on 24-26 November 2009 and a final preparatory meeting related to the criminal justice education is envisaged for late January 2010. HEUNI is also to support the workshop by sending expert speakers to the Congress.
