Report on the Kauhajoki school shooting has been translated into EnglishText version
The report concerning the school shooting in Kauhajoki in September 2008 has been translated into English. The report is drawn up by an investigation commission appointed by the Government. In the report, the commission describes the incident and its background, assesses the facts that have come up during the investigation and their significance, and puts forward conclusions and recommendations.

The investigation commission presented nine recommendations, two of which concern prohibition of firearms of certain type and stricter firearms licensing. Other recommendations concern the enhancement of the mental health care services available for young people; the enhancement of interaction between generations in educational institutions; comprehensive security planning in educational institutions; cooperation between authorities; and the coordination of psychosocial support.
