Background information

The project is a parallel to the United Nations Crime Trends Surveys. Two staff members of HEUNI have participated in the deliberations of the Sourcebook team as an observer and a regional co-ordinator. The European Commission has provided financial support for the project entitled “Standards for Defining and Registering Crime Types, Public Prosecution Disposals, Court Sentences and Improving Correction Statistics”. A member of HEUNI staff participates in the project. The fourth European Sourcebook (covering the years 2003-2007) is in the analysis phase, scheduled for publication in 2010.
