In the recent years HEUNI has taken part in several human trafficking related projects. Together with the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (BRÅ) and the Estonian Institute of Law, HEUNI carried out a study on organised crime and human trafficking for sexual exploitation in 2008. The project was co-financed by the EU. HEUNI collected and analysed data on Finland and prepared a report on the results regarding Finland. In the same year, HEUNI collected data on human trafficking as part of the UN.GIFT project. The final Global Report on Trafficking in Persons was launched by UNODC in February 2009. Recently HEUNI iniatiated a project (FLEX) on trafficking for forced labour in Finland, Poland and Estonia, the final report is to be published in early 2011.
