Closer cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and Russia Text version
The Ministry of Justice has drawn up a plan for the development of the cooperation with Russia in 2009-2015. The aim is to increase the effectiveness of legal cooperation with Russia and to promote effective legal protection and legal security in Russia.

The objective of the cooperation is to create smoothly operating networks with the Russian judicial authorities. A specific goal is to improve the legal protection of Finnish persons and enterprises in cross-border cases.

Measures will be taken to support the accession of Russia to international legal agreements and the effective implementation of the agreements. Cooperation projects, such as an anti-corruption project, will be carried out. The Ministry also strives to promote the development of a free legal aid system in Russia. Other targets for development are direct contacts between the Finnish and Russian courts and improving the competence of the Finnish judicial officials in Russia related issues.

The cooperation between the Ministries of Justice in Finland and Russia is based on an agreement concluded in 1998.
