When national violence against women surveys started in the end of the 1990s, together with international experts HEUNI began to plan a survey for collecting internationally comparable data on men’s violence against women. In 2008, a comprehensive report of the project International Violence against Women (IVAWS) was published. HEUNI has also been involved in assessing administrative data sources on violence against women, and a HEUNI staff member has worked as an expert adviser in a project of the UNODC, in which the services given to the victims of domestic violence by the law enforcement and justice sectors were studied.
