From 7 to 9 October 2026, Fundación Amparo y Justicia hosted a three-part training series in Santiago on investigating technology-facilitated sexual crimes against children. It was led by HEUNI’s Julia Korkman and Malin Joleby (Karolinska Institutet), who have worked on adapting current evidence-based interview recommendations for the context of online sexual offeences in connection to the EU-funded project ELPIS.

  • Masterclass for prosecutors (7 Oct, Fiscalía Nacional): 48 specialised prosecutors discussed how to conduct investigative interviews when digital evidence exists, how to handle information the interviewer holds but the child has not disclosed, and what level of detail children can give about images, videos, or social media accounts.
  • Public masterclass (7 Oct, Universidad Diego Portales): more than 100 child-protection professionals, academics, and students explored how offenders use technology, their strategies, and the psychological impact on victims.
  • Practitioner workshop (8-9 Oct, UDP Faculty of Psychology): 42 interviewers and trainers from Carabineros, the Investigative Police, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the Ministry of Public Security combined presentations with practical exercises. The focus was on what these offences mean for applying Chile’s video-recorded interview law and on evidence-based adaptations.
