Ville Toivonen is a new HEUNI’s intern, who was shipped to us from the University of Helsinki where he’s currently wrapping up his Master’s degree on English translation and interpreting with due diligence.
He sees being involved in research on crime prevention and control as an opportunity to delve into a few specific topics from a linguistic point of view has an enormous potential in it: it enables specialisation and gives valuable experience for working life.
Ville’s expertise lies particularly in the field of language and translation. He states that he currently has two main goals: to spread awareness of good language practices, thus enabling communication, and expanding his vocabulary and verbiage to the greatest possible extent. As a minor goal, he wouldn’t mind if he could rid the world of the word “holistic" and other similar monstrosities.
